Wassup beautiful people! So many of you ask me how I straighten my hair and still have my curls bounce back like nobody’s business. In this post I’m gonna share some of my insider tips on how you can get super defined curly hair with 3C curls and show you my hair routine- specifically when going from straight to curly.
Below are 5 Key Tips:
- Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Hydration is key for definition so it’s helpful to use products that help to moisturize the strands. Ingredients that you can look for are: aloe vera, honey, Vitamin E and oil (Jojoba, Coconut, Baobab, Avocado, etc.) Also it help to do 2 rounds of cleansing to ensure that you get everything out and that the scalp is properly cleansed.
- Use a quality deep conditioner. I stick to non-toxic products as they are better for your health. You can check out my Amazon shop to see my favorites. To enhance the performance of the deep conditioner, you can either throw a plastic cap over your hair for 20-60 mins or sit under a steamer or dryer for 20 mins. Make sure you read the packaging to see how long you should keep the conditioner in!
- Try to avoid any products with sulfates or alcohols as they dry out the hair which is a cause of frizz.
- Finger detangle and apply your stylers in the shower while the hair is wet. This will allow the product to penetrate better. Depending on your texture, using a brush will help to define the curls even further.
- Let your hair air dry and don’t touch it!
